Cocktail creations
Toowoomba’s nightlife has always included good old-fashioned country pubs, but there’s a slew of new bars popping up to offer options for lovers of cocktails. This selection includes French laneway lounges, Spanish tapas and rooftop bars.
Sante
With claims to fame including awards at the National Cocktail Championships, Alex and Loic have created this moody cocktail lounge. It feels like something out of golden age cinema, but the hospitality is warm and friendly. Stop in for a drink after work on Friday or on a cool weekend evening after a show.

Hola
This boutique Spanish tapas bar at the Walton Stores has earned quite a reputation for their cocktails – not least for the delicious sangria carafes! There’s live piano music on Friday nights to really transport you, and enough empanadas to take the edge off.

Tapestry
Tapestry is the moody cocktail bar at the front of Fitzy’s and while they are owned by the same family, the feeling is quite different. The extensive selection of spirits and the comfy chesterfield sofas contribute to the lounge atmosphere here. The bar’s menu includes a charcuterie board for nibbling at, as well as burgers and pizzas. The main meals are simple but delicious – steaks, gnocchi and barramundi.

Muller Bros
This two-floor venue is divided into several distinct sections; downstairs includes the café and the restaurant (specialising in Brazilian churrasco), while upstairs you’ll find the open air rooftop bar, perfect for afternoon cocktails. The rooftop fills up quickly on a Saturday night, so come early to secure a place and watch the sunset over the city.
